Far North Queensland, Australia, January 2007 ► The beauty of Australia’s famed coral reefs is just minutes away from Angsana Resort & Spa Great Barrier Reef, the only resort in Palm Cove to boast absolute beach frontage to the Coral Sea. One of the most awarded resorts in this lush region, this gorgeously tropical spa resort does not however, rest on its laurels. To give it a spanking new look, it has introduced a slew of contemporary innovations to take it to new heights.

Prominently located against the balmy backdrop of the Coral Sea is the newly refurbished Angsana Spa, with a choice of air-conditioned beachfront spa suites, or the rooftop spa pavilions. Each rooftop spa pavilion comes with intimate facilities, specially designed for couples and has its own private plunge pool against the backdrop of the Coral Sea. An expanded Angsana Spa menu is expected in early 2008, featuring more incredible spa therapies that won the resort second place in Condé Nast Traveller (UK)’s Gold List 2007 (Favourite Hotels in Australasia and South Pacific), and a similar accolade: Best Australian Spa (second place) in the Gold List published by Luxury Travel and Style magazine.

Water babies looking for a winter dip will rejoice to hear that the resort’s popular Rock Pool, one of the three large swimming pools available on the premises, is now one of the few pools in Palm Cove to be heated during the cooler months of June to August. Reaching deliciously warm temperatures of between 28ºC to 30ºC, in the winter period, it means the resort now offers all-year-round appeal.

Yet another plus, is the wireless internet access, which is now available throughout the entire resort - yes, right out to the beachfront, so those surfers (the ones who prefer the web to the waves) can stay online outdoors. They can even surf from the stylishly refurbished Lobby Lounge or the expansive Ulysses Lounge, whose name is reminiscent of the classic Greek hero who travelled the ocean waves.

In line with the resort’s environmentally progressive philosophies, Angsana Great Barrier Reef has embarked on the groupwide Banyan Tree Greening Communities Programme, with the aim of planting 2,000 trees annually over the next ten years. In partnership with the Australian Rainforest Foundation, the resort has sponsored and planted close to 2,000 trees in the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest.
